I submitted a post last week and haven't recieved an answer from the wonderful techs on this board so I'm posting again in hopes of a response.

Have a GE SxS that temps were way up when we came home last Thursday evening. I've pulled the freezer back panel and found the evaporator coils were iced/frosted over from top to bottom. I've pulled the defrost heater and continuity is good. Without pulling everything out, I was able to see that the fan above the evaporator was not running. Think I've read every post I could find about people having similar issues and found different solutions. I will replace the evap fan motor, but would like advise on whether I should also replace the control board and/or the Defrost Limiter Thermostat. Different posts have said just the fan motor, but have also read that it pulls power from the board and that if one goes then both should be replaced. Don't know how the defrost limiter thermostat would play into this. It's plugged in and the refrig temp is down to 37, but freezer will not go below 15 and the refrig side fans run constantly. Advice on which way to proceed would be appreciated. Thank you

I would replace the motherboard at the same time as the evaporator motor.
The new board WR55X10942 has a lot of relays on it. If the old board has the same relays as pictured on this site, you will not need to replace the board.

Thank you for the response, but a little confused. You said "The new board WR55X10942 has a lot of relays on it. If the old board has the same relays as pictured on this site, you will not need to replace the board.

Which site were you referring to?

Thank you
