I replaced the clutch on my whirl pool washer, and when I tried to put the transmission back in it comes up short of the bolt connections. The thrust washer is up against the clutch brake, but the receiving rods don't insert into the transmission. Its killing me. Is there some type of adjustment that can be made? If so how? It appears as if the the clutch is as far as it can go but the receiving bolt rods fall about 1/2" short of the transmission.

Before you put the gearcase back in, grab the brake cam driver and rotate it CCW (releases brakes) while pushing on it to make sure the basket drive is all the way in. Sometimes it comes out a little bit when removing the gearcase. Also, when inserting the gearcase, make sure the clutch is aligned so that the spring is not going up against the tab on the brake cam driver.
