I am having cooling problems in my side-by-side. I cleaned the condenser and assured that fans are working and that I am not having a defrost issue. I am trying to determine if my problem is a compressor or thermostat issue. I do get some cooling, but the freezer can only get to 25f.
The fans (Condenser and evaporator) are running constantly. Does this mean the thermostat is working? Does the thermostat circuit control the Evaporator and condenser fans? Is there anything else that could be causing the compressor to run at a less than optimum level? Like I mentioned I get some cooling, just not enough.
After reading in the repair forum, I am wondering about the relay and overload protector on the Compressor. If I feel the copper tubes leaving the compressor; the condenser tube is hot and the evaporator tube is cold (but not ice cold). Do you suspect a compressor or the relay/overload? I did a ohm reading on the compressor terminals and they are in the "normal" range specified in other compressor posts.
Does a faulty relay or overload protector cause the compressor to run "inefficiently" and thus cause improper cooling.
Thanks, DJ

Remove the freezer back panel and describe the frost pattern, total, heavy frost, or partial.
