Our GE has always been slow dispensing ice. I've taken the tray out, ensured all paths are clear and there is no ice blocking the mechanism. Crushed ice dispenses so slow we usually give up and go for cubed ice (which is also slow but much faster than crushed). I'm wondering, is this just a poor design or maybe something is not working correctly. The only suspect item I see is the part a round part that spins freely on the door end of the dispenser shaft. It may be proper operation as the shaft turns a coil that forces ice toward this part and it may be intended to turn freely as the ice is forced toward it - I could also imagine this part should be fixed to the shaft and the ice is not making the final few inches out the door because this part if free spinning).

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

It's hard to say why it's doing that without taking the ice crusher apart and inspecting all parts. The disassembly instructions are attached.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for GE LSS25XSTASS | AppliancePartsPros.com

Post the results.

Yes - I saw the parts list. I guess the "dissasembly" instructions are the accompanying diagrams. I'll see if I can do this without permanently disabling the ice dispenser.
Thanks for the lead - I'm still curious if there is anyone out there with the same model / similar model and what your experiences are with ice dispensing.
