I am having a priblem with my small (1.7 cu.ft.) garage fridge that I use for beer, water, and soda.
The machine will run until some of the contents freezes, then shut off and will not start again until the evaproator is completely defrosted and water is dripping all over averything.
The evaporator is also the small freezer compartment.
The existing thermostat (Pacific Controls PFN-1) is a two wire switch type with a metal capillary / bulb attached directly to the back of the evaporator.
There are two adjusting screws on the thermostat. One seems to be the range adjustment, and the other the differential.
Range adjustment screw is on the left, diff adjustment is on the right.
Which way would I need to turn the diff screw to tighten up the differential (cw or ccw)?
I played with the range screw and that was a mistake. It took about three days to get it back to where it was.
If I were to replace the thermostat, can somebody suggest the temperatures I should be looking at? Because the sensor attaches directly to the evaporator, I am unsure of what thermostat to get.
I was looking at a Ranco K50-P1126
Cold in: -0.4 F Cold out: -12.5F Warm in: +14.9F
Can someone explain "warm in"?
I assume when the sensing wire / bulb sees -12.5 (cold out), the compressor shuts off, then when the temp climbs to -0.4 (cold in), the compressor starts again.
So.. What is warm in?

The thermostat has a dial that can be turned clockwise from cold (warm) gradually to coldest. The warm-in is the temperature the compressor will be turned on when the dial is set at the lowest cold or warm in other word.
