The baking element is not heatng -- we replaced once with no problem about two years ago. Baking element has stopped heating again. We replaced, but still will not heat. If for some reason the baking element is not receiving power, how do we check? If the element is receiving power, what else could be causing the problem and does your company have the parts? I can still use the oven since the top element is heating -- just can't get anything to brown due to bottom element not heating.

Are you sure it is a RS696PXBO2. I cannot find any info on that model but there is info on a RS696PXBQ2.
First check the replacement element with a meter. Should be around 22 ohms. If OK Check the wires from the element up to the control board. If OK then odds are that the control board is toast.
Look for signs of damage on the control board. It could be the oven element control relay or the electronics that control that relay. This board is no longer available. There are companies out there that repair obsolete appliance timers.
I am assuming that the oven either never comes ready or takes a long time to come ready. |

The model number is RS696PXBQ2. With the bottom element not heating, the oven takes a long time to reach requested temperature. The top element has to heat the oven.

Thanks for your help. Can't find a control board anywhere. We decided 18 years was a long life for an oven so we are just going to replace.
