Our washing machine was stopping during the rinse cycle so I replaced the lid switch about a month ago and it is stopping again. Anyone have any idea why the lid switch would go bad again?

It could be faulty voltage, but more likely the lid is coming down to hard and/or too far. See if you can adjust the position of the switch so it is just barely activitated when the lid comes down.
Or it could be just bad luck, but try adjusting the position anyway.
