This dryer squeals like the proverbial stuck pig. I replaced a very worn front felt seal, to no avail. I pulled the idler pulley because it would not spin freely. Cleaned with wd40 and put it back together. Still squeals. The only other thing I am finding anything unusual with is the drive motor spins, buts sounds like its rubbing a little. On what I don't know. It does spin, but not quietly.
Recently changed my car and truck serpentine belt because of squealing, but I have already dropped 60 bucks on that seal and failed to fix it, so I'm hesitant to start throwing more money after it unless I know with reasonable certainty that my next purchase is the fix.
Reading through some search results I am leaning toward two rear support rollers, a new idler, a new belt, or some combination of those items. Any and all help or suggestions is appreciated.
Here's what I think I need
Pulley-Idr by Whirlpool Part Number AP3890848 MFG Part Number 8547174
Belt by Whirlpool Part Number AP3889359 MFG Part Number 8547168
Drum Support Roller by Whirlpool Part Number AP5177441 MFG Part Number W10314173
Thanks
Tom

other thing I am finding anything unusual with is the drive motor spins, buts sounds like its rubbing a little. The above seems to point towards bad motor bearings. If it rubs when there is no pressure on it then when you put pressure on it from the belt it may well squeal.
I would clean/check the rear support roller shaft and bearings. The should not have and bearing slop. They should spin easily.
I doubt it is the belt but the other two items you list could cause this problem. |
