Hi,
I have a 2008 Kenmore Elite, model # 79578739800 refrigerator. The dispenser door for the ice/water maker is jammed. When the button for the door is depressed, the door stutters and makes a few attempts to open a half inch or so, and a few attempts to close and then gives up and stays shut. Sometimes I can catch the door in the middle of this cycle and pull it open. The ice and water dispense fine, but this door is becoming really annoying. I had a Sears repair tech look at it, (hoping I was still under the extended warranty, but no luck), and he said I have to replace the entire door for ~ $475 as well as the ice maker for however much that costs.
I was hoping for anyone on this board to offer some DIY suggestions before I give up and resolve myself to playing a game of fast hands with dispenser door anytime I want ice.
