Kenmore 80 series

Dryer shuts off intermittently

It may complete a full cycle without shutting off but then the next load may shut off three or four times during the cycle.

When it does shut off, if you hit the button it does not start back up but if you wait maybe 20 seconds and hit the button again it will start back up and continue to run.

I took the dryer apart and cleaned and vacuumed out all dust, lint etc. Paying particular attention to the motor itself and checked everything over. Couldn't find anything wrong. After reassembly the dryer it continues to stop intermittently.

I should note that it doesn't seem to matter what temperature setting is used or whether it is time dried or automatic. For example a heavy load of towels on high completed without any interruptions but a fairly light load of white clothes on medium stopped more than once during the cycle.

I'm not sure what my next step should be. There is no shortage of suggestions online but I can't determine what the next best step is for my situation. is there a particular part that I should try replacing first?

Many thanks
Randy

Make sure the motor is not cutting off on overload. Also another thing to check is the door switch.

On the advice of an experienced appliance repairman elsewhere online, I took the blower apart. There was a large chunk of debris in the center of the blower wheel, 10+ years of bit and pieces and compacted lint. Cleaned the wheel and housing, reassembled and have dried three full loads without any problems. I'm calling it fixed.
