Exhaust fan on Whirpool GH&208XRY1 stopped working.
We've had some issues with the button not starting the fan, but after "jiggling" it it has turned on in the past.
Now the fan won't come on at all.
I'm thinking the button, or the electronic on control board located below the buttons, have gone bad due to repeated use.

But, now when I press the button the display reads that the fan is on and when button continues to be pressed it displays a correct cycling through the speeds, and the fan remains off.

Would the display correctly indicate that the fan is working when the button is cycled if the contacts or board is bad? or has the fan motor gone out?

Hello,

Would the fan run automatically when you use the convection cooking?

If not then very likely the fan motor itself is bad. You have to remove it and check for continuity. The ohmmeter should indicate as follows:
Pin 1 (BK) to Pin 2 (WH) - 17 ± 5Ω
Pin 1 (BK) to Pin 3 (RD) - 21 ± 5Ω

If any of readings is incorrect, replace the motor. It comes as assembly, including the housing.

Attached are the exhaust fan removal instructions.
