We have a french door Maytag refrigerator and the ice maker was leaking water into the ice tray and has stopped working altogether now. I ordered a new icemaker and would like to replace it. Do I have to disconnect the water or turn the water off before I do this? Do I have to unplug the fridge or can I replace it powered on? Do I first take the icemaker off, then unplug the wires? My biggest concern is the water and elecrricity. It seems fairly simple from there.

you do not have to cut off water if just changeing the icemaker. the only time water would be an issue is if you were changing the water valve on the back of ref. since the icemaker just plugs in, you do not have to remove power.
