Greetings All, My Whirlpool model GU1500XTLS2 dishwasher will not drain fully, pouring allot of water from the bottom of the door. The first time it happened I checked the drain tube for clogs. There were no clogs and water still in the tube so I guess the pump motor was working but stopped for some reason. I found a plastic straw from my kids drink cup floating in the tub and thought that was the culprit. I pushed "quick rinse" and I could hear the water being pumped out. I then did a "quick wash" and it worked fine. But this morning it failed to drain again with allot more water coming from the bottom of the door. I checked the drain tube and very little water was in it this time. When I opened the door water was trickling out of the water inlet opening on the side of the unit. I pushed "quick rinse" and the water pumped out again. Could this be a control board issue?

Here are your parts Parts for Whirlpool GU1500XTLS2 Dishwasher - AppliancePartsPros.comWhen I opened the door water was trickling out of the water inlet opening on the side of the unit. The above sounds more like a fill valve problem than a drain problem. Check across the fill valve with a meter when the unit is not in the fill portion of a cycle. If it is 0 volts and water is trickling in then replace the fill valve. This may not be necessary as valves are either shut or fully open there is no half way point so trickling does indicate a bad valve. One thing to note is that the unit has an overfill switch and float. So if the unit overfills then then float rises , the switch opens and power to the fill valve is disconnected. By the sound of it it did overfill and if we assume the float and switch are OK then the valve is leaking. Leaking can be an intermittent problem. |

Please start your own post in the Refrigerator section using Post New Topic.
Also include a make and model number.
A better description of the problem would also be helpful. |
