We received this range from a friend a year ago. Recently the bake function has been a problem. I tried unplugging it for an hour, no help. I am taking a meter home tonight to check voltage and resistance of the lower element.
I can check the thermostat and limit switch as well, I just need values, and any recommendations.

Any other known common faults causing the bake function to be inop?

Here are your parts. You seem to be missing a letter at the end of the model number. You will have to choose it from the Narrow Your Choices list. I cannot find any tech info/wiring diagram for this unit. The elements are usually in the 20 to 50 ohm range. If it has continuity it is probably OK. These elements cannot partially short out so they blow out open. I am assuming that the oven control display looks OK. Also that the stove top elements work OK. I do not see a high limit thermostat in the parts. Best to trace the element wires back just to be sure. If the display shows that the ocven is readty then you may have an oven sensor problem. If the unit stays in preheat then it is an element or control board problem. Yes the control panel, burner elements and broil all function normally. The bake function started taking a long time to preheat, now it wont heat up at all. Normal bake and convection bake are both inop. I was reading a thread about Jenn Air ovens and it said the bake element and broil element heat (alternating) during the preheat cycle. I havent confirmed this with my model tho. Just to be clear, When I select bake or convection bake, I select a temp, say 400. Then after a few seconds the display shows 100 degrees and stays there. Before the complete failure, it would preheat slowly, well more so than usual. Thanks again, Rich

OOPS! Reviewing my earlier post, I did not include the parts link so here it is. Parts for FCE70610 - AppliancePartsPros.comIt looks like it is staying in preheat. I think that the 100 that shows up is the actual oven temperature. This is probably the default minimu. I would check the bake element with a meter. Since I cannot find a wiring diagram, check the wires from the element back to the control board. Some units have a thermal cut-out in the element circuit. Also it does not look like this unit has a separate convection element so if you ;loose the bake element you will also loose convection. If the bake element checks out OK and the witing is OK then I would replace the control board. You are correct that many units switch back and forth between the bake and broil elements in bake and pre-heat but like you I cannot confirm this for this unit. |
