My dishwasher is 5 years 2 months old - the 5 year extended warranty JUST expired. Grumble! It has not been cleaning the dishes well for a while - leaving food and detergent residue on thoroughly pre-rinsed dishes. And now, when it runs, it either runs for just a few minutes or for multiple hours.
The touch pad was another indication that something is amiss. The other day I tried to change the cycle settings, but when I hit the up arrow it changed the delay start hours instead of the cycle selection (an entirely different button not controlled by the arrows).
After getting the run-around from the company where we purchased it and had the extended warranty, I found and read through your forum.
I'm thinking I should check the water inlet valve - we do have a lot of sediment in our water since replacing the water heater. But I know the problem is more serious than that. Do you think I need to replace both the touch pad and control module?
Thanks so much for any guidance you can offer!

being that your dishwasher panel is acting eratic, turn the power off to the d/w for about 60 seconds. turn power back on and see if the control corrects itself. washability problem sounds like not enough water. when the dishwasher has filled, open the door and check water level. there is a float at the right front of the d/w tub. the water should be up to this float, if not you will need a water inlet valve. if you take the bottom panel off of the d/w there should be a paper folded up and tucked between the frame and the tub, front or right side. this paper is for techs but it shows you how to put the d/w into diagnostics, and how to check each function, including control board.
