My 5 year old Kenmore Series 70 Electric Dryer model 110.62722101will not start at all. Was shutting off intermittently before timer cycle was complete yesterday evening, however it would restart. Will not cut on at all today, however, light is on in the dryer.
I am not experienced at all with dryer maintenance but am trying to avoid calling someone and having an expensive repair if it is something fairly simple that I could do myself.
Any help you could provide on how to diagnose and possibly fix would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The intermittent shutting down is somewhat of a mystery, because most of the parts that cause the dryer to stop either work or don't work. I would test to see that you have 120v coming to each side of the connection block, and that the connections are tight. Then unplug the dryer and test the door switch. If these are ok I would test the thermal fuse/thermostats for continuity, and if all is well I would replace the push to start switch. Here it is Part number: AP3097490
because it is an inexpensive part and easy to do yourself. If all that does not solve the problem then a failed motor or timer could be the problem.
