if it is a side by side, look under the bottom basket in your freezer section. there will probably be ice under there. look at the back of the freezer section just below the panel and you should see the drain hole. it is frozen. use hot water to remove ice in tube. there is probably an obstruction in the drain tube. the reason you only see water on the floor now and then is that the water is leaking during the defrost cycle.
