My light will not come on. I replaced the bulb with a 120v 40 watt light. I removed and tested the door light switch: ohms are good.
I measured the voltage across the two wires where I unplugged the door light switch. The refrigerator was plugged in. I was surprised to read 32 volts a/c and not 120. Was that a normal voltage for older whirlpools?
The bulb that I removed did have an open filament and it is a GE 120 v 40 watt bulb.

Problem fixed. I checked the voltage at the socket and has 120 v. I put the new lightbulb back in just a little tighter and it works.
