My lid switch went out on my Whirlpool Washer and my friend installed a new one and it worked for about 10 minutes and then went out and I exchanged it for another one and installed it and it worked once again for 10 minutes and went out again....What could be the problem?

The original problem was that my lid switch broke the lever fell apart, so I bought another lid switch and it worked for about 10 minutes and then went out and exchanged it for another one and that one did the same thing. My neighbor installed it but he can not figure out y it keeps going out. so he jumped it and no more problem. It's ok because I do not have small children and the lid switch is just for safety purposes to keep the tub from spinning when opening the lid.
