Hi I'm Jeff, I had a appliance repair technician fix my dryer last weekend and the dryer has failed again 7 days later, same symtoms. He replaced the thermostat on a MaytaG Atlantis dryer model MDE8400AZW which I think is p/n AP4036890. I think I now need a new thermostat (again). I'm also wondering what is causing the thermostat to fail. I was also thinking of replacing the Heater sub-assembly and I'm not sure the difference between p/n's AP4038069 and AP4289905 ?

The part you mentioned is the hi-limit thermostat, does not make sense that this should blow so soon unless the replacement was defective. This thermostat should only come into play if the cycling thermostat fails.
What was your original problem? What is the current problem? Was the hi-limit thermostat replaced because it was open or was it shorted?
Looks like the difference between the 2 heat assemblies is one includes the thermal fuse, the other does not. |
