My Kenmore side by side is 7-9 yrs. old.....the last several months i've had problem with frozen milk, water, veggies, etc.I had Sears tech out....said need new control board. I put in new board and still having same problem. The freezer section is consistently 20-28 below ,while refrigerator varies from 22-30 degrees.(I've cleaned coils every 6-8 months).Next i installed new thermistor #2188819....nothing changed. Now i block diffuser assembly with 3 inch wide tape.....this will allow refrigeratoe side to remain between 30-40 degrees.I thought of changing out diffuser but i cant see how that will help problem of -28 degrees in freezer.Your thoughts please!!!

I would suspect open wires from the thermistor to the microcomputer. If you have an ohmmeter you can check. Just check at the microcomputer, the wires are usually white.
