My mother-in-law has an old, electric Sears Kenmore Advantage dryer, model# 96291100. Just recently, the filter alarm goes off before the laundry is dry and the machine turns off. The filter is clean, and I have checked the hose (it is clear of obstruction and vents well). I would like to remove the lower front panel, and check for any obvious obstruction or lint build up. However, I cannot find a singe panel I can remove simply by taking screws out. I even laid the whole thing on it's side to see if the base would come off, but had no luck there either. l'm guessing there are some sprung clips that I simply need to force off, but do not know or sure. The bottom of the front panel just slides down on two clips, but the panel will only move up about an eight of an nch before it hits the panel with the door in it.

Does anyone know what I need to do to remove the panel? I do not want to break the dryer.

Cannot find any info on this unit. Cannot even find out who make it as there does not seem to be a 962 cross reference.

My guess is Whirlpool but this is just a guess.

Perhaps you can find what you need on this site

The dryer is a Kenmore that was purchased through Sears. In fact, the instruction manual calls it a Sears Kenmore Advantage dryer. The model number on the dryer is 96291100, but in the instruction manual it is 62911. Perhaps you can find something under that number?
