Trying to make sure the freezer is working properly before I spend too much time and or money on it.
I just picked up a used freezer and it seemed to be cooling well. I noticed if I unpug it and then plug it back in, it would hum for a bit then click off. If I unpluged it again for a couple of minutes it would start up again just fine. I had similar results from turning the thermostat down until the compressor turned off, I would then turn it back up and I would get the hum and click, it would then start up again after I plugged it for a few minutes.
I had planned on using a PID to control the cooling to a specific temp and was checking the concept of the PID controlling the power to the unit.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

So far it's working fine but, if you'll do it again and again you will kill the compressor. After you turned it off, you have to wait about 10 minutes before turning it back on. Gene.
