Ok, problem number 4!
When the compressor cycles off, I get a loud clunk sound.
Otherwise, temps are fine with 0 in the freezer and 37 in the fridge.
Is the clunk more likely the motor or compressor?
Is it possible for a good home mechanic tp change either of these, or do I need a professional?
Thanks in advance for your kind assistance.
Joe

Hi.
What you hear is most likely the motor inside the compressor knocking on the outer shell. Possibly one of the mounting spring broke or stretched. There is nothing you can do. That may be a long while before anything happens.
Simon.

The compressor windings are shielded by the stater laminations. You are lucky it will not make a noise all the time, then the only possible solution is tilting the compressor on it's mounts.
