Hi, I have a Norge (Magic Chef) DU6550P dishwasher that "drains" during the wash cycle. Everything else works fine. I suspect that the drain flapper and/or drain flapper seal is leaking and would like to inspect/replace it.

I've removed the motor and pump housing assembly from the chassis. I think I need to remove the impeller and then the pump volute to gain access to the drain flapper. However, I can't remove the impeller.

I "jammed" the motor shaft and tried turning the impeller clockwise and counter-clockwise, but the impeller won't move. I'm beginning to round the hex on the end of the impeller. Is there a trick to removing the impeller? Do I need a special tool? Does anyone have a service manual for this? Do I need to remove the pump volute and impeller to gain access to the drain flapper?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

You may want to check the drain solenoid too. The manual is attached to the post.
