After filling with water the motor just hums. If I give a quick tug on the belt the motor engages and runs through the cycle. Is the motor going bad? Please help...driving my wife crazy.

Yes it could be the motor.

Could also be that the centrifugal switch is not connecting in the motor's start winding or that winding is burned out.

You will have to check it with a meter.

Be sure to mark or make a diagram where the wire go.
