I have a Tappan self cleaning electric range in my duplex. -I am sorry, I do not have the model number. It is a very basic apartment model. (my guess is: Tappan 30-in Freestanding 4-Element 5.3 cu ft Self-Cleaning Electric Range from Lowe's) Recently, when I turn on the oven, it comes on and begins to warm up, but after 5-10 minutes it turns off and the digital display on the top turns of, turning the oven off with it. If I fiddle around with the top display, it seems I can get the display to come back on. It acts like there is a short somewhere. Is there a part in the display that needs to be replaced?

If I fiddle around with the top display, it seems I can get the display to come back on. What do you mean by fiddle? It acts like there is a short somewhere. More likely an open. If you use a light switch as an example. A short is the switch is on. An open is the switch is off. Find your model number - AppliancePartsPros.comCould be a bad connection, a cold solder joint or a bad timer/control board. |
