Hi,
I have a GE Oven, JKP18S, which is about 10-11 years old. Having issues with the temperature, sometimes with the oven "super" heating and others where it fails to achieve temperature. In either instance, I have to shut the thing off at the breaker. I'm getting an F4 code on it. I replaced the temperature sensor myself, but it does not seem to have made a difference. Is there something I might be missing here, or do you have other ideas on how I might fix it?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts you might have.

Hi.

Please provide the complete model number of the unit (missing 4 digits).

You need to check the wire harness from the sensor to the control board and connection at the control.
If the connections are good - replace the control board.

Post the complete model number so I can get you the part number.

Simon.

Replaced the control board. Oven works now, but just got an F3 code when trying to use the convection function on the oven. Was able to run it earlier, but it beeps and shows the code when we do it now. So far, normal baking seems OK.

As an update, the oven will heat up to temperature, but then beeps and gives us at F3 code at a random time thereafter. Working the same way for convection or normal use.

Hi, Ken.

You need to check the wire harness from the sensor to the control, specially the disconnect plug. Check the sensor resistance at the control board plug (trace the wires).
You should read about 1100ohm.

Post the results.

Simon,
Thanks for the advice. As it turns out, when I replaced the temp. sensor I din't do a thorough enough job making sure the sensor cable was completely behind the insulation. As a result, the coupling was exposed to high heat and melted. Replaced the melted pieces, took a bit more time to make sure the cable was insulated, and now works fine.

Appreciate all the advice and help provided.

Ken
