this oven is a few months out of warranty (what a suprise right!) and the 5 stove top burners work no problem all the time, light immediately and stay lighted.

bake is mostly used, sometimes broil and the self clean feature has been run a few times.

as of late the oven will shut off during the cooking and attempt to re-ignite as you can hear the sparking and the gas kick in but then it shuts down as i guess the gas never ignites.

could this be a temperture sensor or igniter element issue?

Hello,

Remove the oven floor, the flame spreader and the Bake burner.

Make sure the igniter is clean and properly aligned with the burner and the lighting holes in the burner are completely open.

Gene,
Thanks for your reply awhile ago on this issue of mine.

I did what you suggested, and even though nothig looks bad, no clogs in the holes of the spreader, no cracks in the porcelan of the igniter

It worked for a short while longer but now the bake wont hardly light at all.

A handy man I know suggested I replace the porcelen igniter for the bake portion?

Your thoughts would be greatly appreciatied too!

Thanks again,
Mark

Hi Mark,

I did not say anything about holes of the spreader. It has nothing to do with the ignition and/or flame.

I suggested to check holes in the Bake burner.

I also suggested to verify the igniter alignment with the burner.

Gene,
I did as you suggested in regards to ensuring the various parts are aligned and clean, the igniter is actually screwed to the bake burner via a mounting / guide plate which does leave the tip of the igniter over the grouping of holes and the portion of the burner that curves down to the gas jet is firmly stradling the jet.

Heres the odd thing, because the removal of the oven floor and the flame spreader sheild is sort of a pain to do after re-checking that the holes where clean and the burner & igniter were aligned I tried lighting it WITHOUT the spreader and floor in place and wouldn't you know it worked like a charm!

Excited that it was working I put the spreader and floor back in place and it wouldn't light!

Still clicks/sparks, still here a second of the flame ignite and then off the gas goes as if it had not been lighted at all??

could there be a gas or air flow issue that is causing the gas jet to close as a safety percaution?

I'm going crazy and my wife, well you can imagine her frustrations!

Anymore suggestions?

Thanks again,
Mark
