Lady friend who bought washer new says it has leaked transmission oil since new. Washer works good other than leak. Thinking I'll put in used transmission. Question, can shaft seals be replaced without trans disassembly? Can lubricant be added without opening trans? Thanks.

The input shaft seal can be replaced without opening the gearcase and oil can be added here with the seal removed. The problem is, you don't know how much has leaked out and you don't want to overfill it. It normally holds 15oz of oil. If it's leaking at the output shafts or around the perimeter of the cover, you must remove the cover.
