This washer has been great with minimal work needed over the years. It just stopped agitating or spinning and now makes a whirring sound.
Is this a simple type if problem for a novice to repair? Should I just buy a new unit or maybe call a pro repairman?

Hi. You need to replace the motor coupling Part number: 285753A
Use the video clip for the instructions. Post the results. Simon.

Well my wife decided not to wait for me to order parts and do it myself, but the repairman charged us $162 to replace exactly what you told me. Does this seem about right? The repairman was at the house less than 30 minutes.

The price sounds about right.
