Washer agitates fine when in washing mode but when it goes into spin cycle there is a loud grinding and banging sound coming from agitator, when it is spinning the agitator is bouncing back and forth making those sounds, if i place my hand on top of agitator and press down or hold agitator from spining noise stops
can you help.

Hi.

Remove the agitator and run the washer without it.Observe the shaft while the washer in the spin, does it turns?
If it turns, can you stop it if you hold it?
If the transmission shaft turns when the washer is in the spin then it's the bad transmission.
If the shaft is not turning you should check the agitator's splines and replace if needed Part number: 3947517
Part number: 3947517

The transmission Part number: 3360629
Part number: 3360629

Post the results.

Simon.
