I have a gas Amana Big Oven. Went to start the oven, entered heat setting, heard only one click and then panel showed the "Low" heat setting and remained there. At that point I realized the oven had not turned on. There was no appearance of gas smell either so at that point, I proceeded to try the broil system and still no heat. I did not hear the clicking or the sound of gas kicking in that I normally would with either items. Cold oven... bad bad timing! Stove top still works properly.

Any thoughts where we should troubleshoot first. I would like to order any necessary parts as soon as possible.

Thank you.

Ok, upon further research and a little more diligence. I once again started the oven, same reaction. Then I tried the broiler again and the top ignitor took cue and then flame. I removed oven floor to watch bottom ignitor after starting oven. No glow. I am going to start with replacing the bottom ignitor in hopes that is the only problem.

Hi.

Check if the bake or broil ignitors are glowing. If they do - you will need to check the amp draw of the each ignitor by clamping on the amp meter.
If the reading is below 3.2amp - replace the ignitors.
If it's grater then 3.2amp - replace the safety gas valve.

In case if there is no glowing check if the ignitors are getting the 120VAC from the control board.
Set the control for BAKE and using the multimeter check for 120VAC at the disconnect plug.
If you are getting 120VAC - replace the ignitor.

No proper voltage - replace the control board

Simon.. Thanks for your reply. I actually had the bottom ignitor ordered prior to your reply so I was already committed. I just wanted to let any other readers out there know that this was in fact the problem. Simple 5 minute repair and my oven is working great again.
