This dishwasher is having an issue dissolving the washing soap, whether it be liquid or powder. We have tried running the sink hot water prior to starting the wash to make sure it has hot water. It takes several cycles to wash thereby wasting water and energy. And it makes sense that the dishes are not as clean as they should be. Deciding if whatever parts cost are needed if it is worth repairing. Wife has always complained about the silverware rack; one little bump and it falls off. A poor design in my opinion. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Here are your parts Parts for Whirlpool GU2500XTPB3 Dishwasher - AppliancePartsPros.comA common problem is the unit not filling with enough water. Most units fill to just under the heating element. This can be checked by adding a couple quarts of water after each fill during a cycle. Just be careful to not overfill it. If it now washes OK then check the fill valve. Often if the fill is low you will also hear a growling sound because the pump will cavitate (suck in air). The most common cause is a dirty screen filter on the input side of the fill valve. Remove the valve from the unit and clean/check the filter. Do not permanently remove it from the valve as it is there to keep crud out of the valve which could hold it open and cause a flood. If it still does not fill correctly I would replace the fill valve. PS: Be sure to shut off the power and the water supply to the unit. Have paper towels etc. handy to wipe up any spilled water. Get a small pan/bowl etc. that will fit under the valve then loosen the input water line let it drip into the container emptying it as necessary. This will minimize the amount of water spilled. |

Thanks and sorry this has taken so long to reply. I slid the washer out removed the inlet nut from the inside. I did not see any blockage. I disconnected the black hose to the grey plastic valve inlet (#3 diagram) and did not see anything. You could actually blow in it, all clear. I could see the other clear hoses had water in them. Is the other end valve inlet #7 on the diagram the one I should be checking? Also, is #7 the one you would recommend replacing? That must be on the bottom of th unit. Thanks again for your help.

Yes #7 is the valve. Part number: AP3178611
If you click on the picture and look at the second picture you can actually see the filter/sieve inside the valve's input. Yes it is the one I recommend replacing if it is clean inside the input. |
