I just replaced the heating element and a couple other parts (thermal fuse etc.) on my Dryer. Gave it a test run and everything seemed fine. But after moving back in place and starting it again I heard a pop and saw some sparks. Disconnected power and pulled it out. I discovered that I had not replaced the screw holding the ground wire. Is that a plausible explanation for the sparks? Provided everything seems to operate correctly now, can I expect safe operation going forward? A quick response would be most appreciated, I promised my wife it would be up and running this afternoon. Thanks in advance

Need more info.
Where was the screw and what ground wire?
Was this a 3 wire or a 4 wire hookup?
What exactly shorted out re: did the loose ground wire touch a live wire? |
