I have a Frididaire Electrolux model number FDB231OLCC2 dishwasher. I have no idea how old it is, but I'm guessing in the 5-10 year range - could be older, could be newer. It has recently started having a horrible burning smell when we run it. It doesn't start immediately and comes and goes during the cycle. I have the "no heat dry" cycle selected, so it shouldn't be that - and it does it in the middle of the cycle, not at the end when it would be drying. I have checked the heating element in the bottom of the machine, but I don't see anything on it. It doesn't seem to be coming from inside the machine though - when I open the door I don't smell it, it's from the outside somewhere. Any ideas what this could be and how I could possibly fix it? Thanks so much!:)

I think it must be coming from the bottom of the dishwasher. We opened up the bottom tonight to see what we could see, but didn't notice much other than a tiny spot where it looked like something might be melted on the left side, but I have no idea what it could be.

There is the junction box under the dishwasher where the power cord is connected to the dishwasher. Unplug the dishwasher and check the power cord connections to the dishwasher.
Gene.
