I recently purchased a home with a Stainless Steel Kitchenaid KUDS01FLSS1 Dishwasher. As many have posted, the door would slam open. It was clear by the broken shards of white plastic, and strings laying on the ground that I needed part 8194001. I replaced both sides easily and thought all was right with the world. 3 weeks later the left side popped, another month later the right side popped. Very frustrating. It seems this part is doomed to failure. In both cases the plastic breaks around the string. Is there a newer metal version, or any other kit that could be used that lasts longer than a couple months? Thoughts?

Sorry to hear it.
Have you replaced the door balance wheels and the door balance mounts as well?
If you purchased the part from APP then it's going to be exchanged under the parts warranty.
Gene.

You may also want to look at/change the tension on the springs.
There are usually several holes so you can adjust it. |
