We have a Frigidaire that is almost five years old. It has started leaking water and has damaged our laminate floor. We have determined the water is coming from the PVC tube that sits on top of the compressor. I think it is the water intake tube for the ice maker. Thing is, we have never hooked up the ice maker so there is no water going into the fridge through this tube. Why would water be leaking out? Yesterday it spit out about 3 cups of water in one shot.

That tube is actually the defrost water drain tube. As the evaporator heater comes on it melts the frost off the coils, that water runs down that tube and into a tray to evaporate away. You may have a crack in the drain pan that is allowing the water to spill out onto your floor.

Thanks so much for your quick reply. The tube doesn't drain into the pan. The pan sits at the front of the fridge. The end of this tube sits on top of the compressor at the back of the fridge and doesn't drain into anything. That's why we think it must be an intake tube. It was actually taped to the fridge so it hasn't shifted positions.
