I have a frigidaire dishwasher FGHD2433KF1. I can no longer select some of the options on the touchpad. For instance, I press normal wash and it will not select. When I powered off the dishwasher and powered it back on, it jumps to the top rack option. It will run this option, however, the display for remaining minutes on the wash cycle jumps from the 40 minute range to the 90 minute range and back. I cannot select any of the delayed start options either. What part do you think is bad or should i try some way to clear the problem?

Hi.

Most likely there is the problem with the control panel. However there is the small chance it's the control board.

I went ahead and ran the dishwasher with the top rack button selected. My dishes got clean. Now, it appears the control panel is back to normal. I will see how it performs on the normal wash cycle the next time since it is now selectable.

The dishwasher ran for a little while today, the soap door opened and it halted. I turned off power at the breaker and back on. I can select any wash cycle, shut the door, then after a few seconds, the selected wash cycle light goes out and the dishwasher does not start. Looks like it is fried now.

Just to add my 2 cents...

I do not see any other solution but the one offered by Simon. Replace the control panel. If it would not fix the problem then replace the control board. You may want to order both parts together from APP to give them a try and return unneeded part later. Only APP gives you the option to return any part even if it was installed.

I replaced the control panel and control board and it still behaves the same. The dishwasher will allow the selection of any wash cycle, but will not start, and after several seconds the light indicating the wash cycle turns off. I checked for loose wires and could not find any. I remembered the last partial run cycle ended when the detergent came out of the dispenser door. I unplugged the leads from the detergent dispenser and plugged them back in and it still would not start a cycle. I then unplugged one of the wires from the jet dry dispenser and the washer now starts. It ran a partial cycle and now i get an error code. Everything on the error code panel flashes, It is flashing washing, drying, Er, clean and S. I unplugged the other wire from the jet dry dispenser and now I can only select the top rack cycle. It is now attempting to run the top rack cycle. Do you think I should replace the dispenser next?

It completed the top rack cycle and the dishes were clean. The jet dry dispenser was disconnected the whole time. Now it is back to letting me select a normal wash cycle with no start and the normal wash cycle light going out in a few seconds. I think I will call a repairman.
