My GE Profile washer will not spin when it reaches the spin cycle. You can hear a loud click sound when it is suppose to start spinning and the sound you should normally hear when spinning properly. Also, upon starting the spin cycle, the agitator starts to turn and then abruptly stops. But, the drum does not spin. By holding down the lid switch, I tried rotating the drum by hand to get it started to no avail.

Everything runs fine in the normal washing cycle, including the pump.

Take the front panel off by inserting a putty knife into the top groove in line with the lid opening on each side to release the clips. Tilt the panel out and lift from the cabinet. Observe the lower components when it should be spinning. The motor pulley, belt, transmission pulley and transmission should all be spinning. The motor shaft extends below the motor pulley and has a clip on it. If the shaft and clip are spinning but the pulley is not, the clutch is slipping. The clutch is inside the pulley.
