Hi, I have an Amana NED7200TW. This beauty has failed twice in the four years that I've owned it. I clean it out and remove lint from all internal parts regularly, so naturally it has overheated twice and blown the thermistor. The first time it happened was exactly one year ago. I was drying a couple of sheets and the dryer got so hot I could see shimmering waves of heat when I opened the door. It stopped running after that, so an electrician friend of mine and I traced out the problem to the thermistor, got a new one and it worked fine.
Last week, same thing happened with one sheet in the dryer. The unit stopped at about 5min remaining in the dry cyle and the sheet inside was so hot I could barely remove it. I checked the diagnostic code and it came back as '2', one of the causes of which is "Thermister Open Sensed". I bought another thermistor, replaced it and the dryer still won't run.
I can select a type of cycle, push the start button, and I get a couple of clicks from the motor but nothing else. No heat or motion of the drum. The minutes left in the cycle do count down, but that's it.
I cleared the diagnostic codes from the unit just in case, and it still won't run.
Any ideas as to what I should try next? Another person posting in this forum seemed to have the same issue as me, and fixed it with a new thermistor and he said that the thermal cutoff was off. Is this a fuse that I need to replace?
Thanks for any help you can offer.
