So basically both the fridge and the freezer will not kick on unless I turn the temp dial up or down. After I turn it up or down it kicks on and the freezer will freeze and the fridge will get cold, but 24 hrs later I notice the the freezer has started to thaw and the fridge is not cold. So for some reason its just not turning on automatically like it should when the temp starts to drop. Please help! :)

Since just moving the thermostat up or down gets the unit to fire up I would replace it.
It is fairly common for them to stick open.
