It worked when I got it from a freind and then it has started to blow the GFI oulet as soon as I plug it in. I think it is the defrost control but am not sure is there a way to test it. Any help would be appreciated.

Refrigerators easily develope voltage leaks to ground. Best to use it in a non-ground fault outlet.
