My tried and true A810 stopped in the rinse cycle. It will not proceed or drain. The timer just clicks on. I moved the selector knob trying to change the cycle and it would not cycle. I unplugged the washer and that did not resolve the issue. How do I know if this is a timer issue instead of some other issue?

I found that the lid switch was not actuating. I did so by placing a metal blade between the lid and the plastic switch head. This increased the distance the plastic head moved. It started immediately.
