I have no clue what the model number is for the whirlpool washer or how old it is. I looked on the front and back for a tag but didn't see one. So I hope this info is not needed.

The washer fills with water just fine but will not agitate. I can hear the motor running though (spinning really fast from the sound of it). It also will not do the spin cycle but the water drains just fine. I can hear the motor spinning during this cycle as well (again, really fast from the sound of it). I'm assuming the fast spinning sound is because there is no load on the motor to keep it at a lower rpm? Would this be a problem with the clutch assembly? What do I need to replace to make this work again?

EDIT: It is a top load washer btw.

You might try the motor coupling. Watch the video here on appliancepartspros for instructions. The coupling may have broken or worn out.

Ok, I checked out the video. It seems there are two couplers I can order. What is the difference between the two aside from the price?

WHIRLPOOL 285753A Whirlpool Direct Drive Washer Motor Coupling, AP3963893 | AppliancePartsPros.com

WHIRLPOOL 285852A Heavy Duty Motor Coupling, AP3961972 | AppliancePartsPros.com

They both say "whirlpool original part" so does it really matter which I order? I like the cheaper one that says new design with the metal center. But the other more expensive one says heavy duty even though it has no metal center.
