My Whirlpool dryer wasn't coming on, and the door switch was obviously broken, so I replaced that (paying twice at a local shop what I would have paid through APP :( ) with no difficulty. Went to turn it on, expecting success and ... nothing! The element doesn't seem to be coming on, nor is the drum turning. The timer is going, and the door switch seems to be doing what it's supposed to, since I can hear a click in the panel when I open the door.
Is it the thermal fuse? I'm gonna pull that and see if it's conducting. Thanks!

I checked it, and there's no continuity. I checked the other components into the element, and they have continuity, so replace the fuse and it seems to be working! Fuse was expensive, though: $16!

Check/clean your vent system as that is the most common cause of the fuse blowing. Be sure to also check that the louvers on the outside of the house open fully. |
