Back of icemaker freezes up and freezes the icemaker crusher dispenser motor that makes cubes or crushed ice. I have replaced the Defrost limiter thermostat but it did not fix it. After defrosting the freezer within 2 weeks little ice cycles will form under the back motor cover and under the iceboxand then the crusher dispenser motor will freeze up and won’t go up and down to allow ice cubes instead of crushed. I thought maybe the water coming into the ice tray could be leaking but its not. Could it be that the defrost heater warms up the ice tray and the evaporator fan is not working properly to circulate the air and dry things up before they freeze up again. In about 2 months I will take apart the icemaker crusher dispenser motor and it will be a solid block of ice, where could the water be coming from that makes it all freeze up. The ice tray sits right over this but it is not leaking or is it splashing when filling. When the ice tray is full of ice cubes can the defrost comes on and make condensation under the tray and make it drip before it freezes back up. Is this a sign of a bad evaporatorfan?

My GE Profile Fridge has been a pain in the butt for years. When my freezer would go into defrost, everything would get wet and then the freezer would freeze everything back up and it kept getting thicker and thicker with ice. I would then defrost the freezer manually and it would start all over again. The ice cubes in the box would be one solid block and the icemaker dispenser would stop turning. My icemaker would freeze up and drips of ice would form all over the freezer. Even the Motor Crusher Disp Part Number AP4337288 would turn to an ice sickle and would stop turning. The solenoid that makes cubes or crushed would freeze solid. I Changed the temperature sensor, changed evaporator fan, changed defrost limiter thermostat. I even removed the whole icemaker to see if it was the problem. I replaced the back Main Control Board Part Number AP4436216 control panel, $140 bucks and none of these worked.

Well guess what I found the problem and it is a manufacture defect. I took the Temperature Sensor

PartNumber AP3185407 and the Defrost Limiter Thermostat Part Number AP3884317 and I removed them off the Evaporator tube that they were clipped on and I pushed them down into the middle of the coils of the Evaporator fins about 6 inches into the middle, Part Number AP3187225; they both had a little slack in the wire.

I then stuck a little tinfoil over the top of the coils just to keep a little more heat in.

Everything seems to be perfect. No ice buildup. Ice cubes do not turn into one block ofice. Freezer walls are perfectly dry. It’s been 2 weeks now and it works like it’s brand new. It has always had a problem with the freezer and I fixed it by changing the design of where the sensors should be placed. What I did was to make these sensors think it is hotter then it really is so the defrost shuts off sooner, that seem to have been the problem all this time.

My Ice Maker is as dry as can be, no frost or ice build up. Ice cubes come out like M&M's. This really works. Anyone with Ice build up in Freezer, Take Note, this worked and everything is working perfect.
