Dryer has begun making noise. On last load there was no (or very little) heat.
Removed back to examine and there is substantial heat, so it doesn't seem there's any problems with heating element. Cleaned out all accessible lint.
The noise: cursory research suggests the cause might be loose/worn drum rollers. How do I disassemble this model to check that?
Any other suggestions as to possible causes of indicated problems?

You need to take off the blower wheel cover and inspect it to see if it is clogged or broken.
I have not worked on a machne this old recently, but I think you can access the rollers by releasing the top from the cabinet by inserting a screw driver or putty knife in the gap between the top and the front near the edges and flipping up the top. You can then take off the front and release the belt and remove the drum. This will get you to the rollers.

It appears the top is held onto the front and side panel/s by screws (weirdly: one would have to have a mighty short screwdriver, as they are within the "lip" area).
There are two sheets of illustration online here, one an exploded view of the "bulkhead," the other an exploded view of the cabinet. Unfortunately, as I've never done any equivalent repairs, and haven't been inside this dryer except for removing the back panel, I'm not able to make head or tail of it as concerns getting inside the cabinet in order to take a look.
And it doesn't appear by the ilustraions that one would remove the bottom.

The diagrams really do not show exactly how to get inside, and when I look on other sites they don't list this model at all.
All I can say is that you need to remove the front at a minimum and release the belt and the drum will come out.

I'm wondering: Note in one of the diagrams a triangular piece ("gusset" in the parts list) at the top left of the "bulkhead". I'm wondering if it works as a hinge -- with another at the bottom corner -- so that the "bulkhead" swings out.

I am having the SAME problem with my RCA/GE dryer. So far I can't figure out HOW you're supposed to RELEASE the lid from the case. If you DO find out, please share this as I'm sure this is a common problem. If you will post a model number we can see exactly what you have. Normally the top will come off after you remove the screws on the top of the door jam.

Model Number is: BVLR333EVOWW I have felt around the inside of the door, and can see NO screws. Should I look inside with a mirror perhaps? Where are these screws located? And how do you get to the "top of the door jam"?? :confused: Do I need to crawl inside the opening of the door to SEE them? I found the screws, got the top off and checked continuity. All three thermostats and heating elements ALL checked good. So, I turned it on, with the top still off. It started fine, and even put out heat. :) New problem: when I walked around it to open the dryer door, I bumped the control panel. There was a spark ... and the dryer quit. It will now not start. :mad: I checked the fuse box, amd reset it. The diagram in the back of the dryer shows a "Safety" and it also says "RESETABLE". I'm assuming this must be a safety fuse ... but I can't find it in the parts list on here. Do you have ANY idea if there's a satety fuse or cutoff switch ... that will keep the entire dryer from starting ... turning or heating. It's not doing anything now. :confused: I checked continuity again of the thermostats, heating element, and the start switch. ALL are good. :) I NEED HELP in determing WHAT to check NEXT ... or where that safety switch/fuse would be located. :confused: Thanks Originally Posted by: sidfink43
