Dryer makes high-pitched squeak at start of tumble then stops. Makes noise sometimes during tumble, and always just before dryer is about to stop. Could this be a belt? Dryer was given to me and I don't have a manual for it.

Here are your parts Replacement parts for FRIGIDAIRE FDE436RES1 | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is a good site with basic dryer repair help http://www.applianceaid.com/dryers.htmlHere is the Frigidaire website, where you should be able to get manuals or at least one that is a close match to your unit, if you want them. Search using FDE436 http://www.frigidaire.com/manuals Could this be a belt? I doubt it More likely it is the rear drum support bearing. May need cleaning and re-greasing using a high temp grease. May also need replacing if it is worn. Note the ball bearing (Item 5 in the Cabinet/drum section) likes to take off and hide so be careful when removing it's retainer. Other possibilities are the belt's idler wheel, the front glides or the motor itself. |
