My whirlpool quit spinning and draining. I had replaced the timer within the last year. I had noticed a long buzz during some transitions recently but now everything just stops. Agitation works for the most part, but occasionally it would freeze til I spun it with my hand. Just now I use a screwdriver to test the lid switch and got the thing to drain and spin. After a few tests, that failed too until I discovered I could move the tub with my hand to get it going again. My lid switch seems ok, right? My timer probably? Is this the clutch? (not sure what and where it is). Thanks.

If the machine is not draining, it means the motor is not turning, so a clutch problem or coupling problem is not likely.

You need to test the lid switch by by-passing it. Here is a site that will show you how.

If that is not the problem, take off the cabinet and pull off the pump and check it and drain hoses for obstructions.
